- Accuracy: independent peer-reviewed research (Luetzenburg, Kroon & Bjørk, "Evaluation of the Apple iPhone 12 Pro LiDAR for an application in geosciences", Scientific Reports, 2021, https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-01763-9) measured the iPhone 12 Pro LiDAR sensor at an absolute accuracy of about ±1 cm on features larger than 10 cm. Apple rates the LiDAR Scanner for distances of up to ~5 metres.
- Device support: requires the LiDAR Scanner — iPhone 12 Pro and every Pro model since (12/13/14/15/16 Pro and Pro Max), plus iPad Pro (2020) and later. Non-Pro iPhones and standard iPads are not supported.
- A typical room scans in a few minutes and produces both a 2D floor plan and a 3D model.
