A tape measure gives you one number at a time and someone to hold the other end. Room Scanner measures the whole room at once: point your iPhone Pro or iPad Pro at the walls, walk slowly around the space, and the LiDAR sensor captures every wall, corner, door and window as you go. When you stop, the room is drawn as a dimensioned floor plan with the floor area, perimeter and ceiling height worked out for you.
The LiDAR sensor measures to about ±1 cm on features larger than 10 cm, which is accurate enough for ordering flooring, fitting furniture, quoting a job or drawing up a listing. Every measurement can be shown in metric or imperial units.
On an iPhone or iPad without a LiDAR sensor, choose Create manually, pick a rectangle or an L-shape, and type the width, length and ceiling height. Room Scanner builds the same floor plan and 3D model, and you can add doors, windows and furniture afterwards.
Export the plan as a PDF or a PNG image, share the 3D model as a USDZ file, or move the scan to another device with JSON. With Pro, export a CSV room and window schedule for Excel or Numbers, a branded property report with your logo, or a DXF or SVG drawing for AutoCAD and SketchUp.
The LiDAR sensor in iPhone Pro and iPad Pro models measures to about ±1 cm on features larger than 10 cm, as independent peer-reviewed testing has shown. That is accurate enough for flooring, furniture, decorating quotes and real-estate floor plans. For structural work or certified drawings, commission a professional survey.
Room Scanner cannot scan without a LiDAR sensor, but on any iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later you can type a rectangular or L-shaped room's width, length and ceiling height and get the same floor plan, 3D model and exports.
Yes. Each room shows its floor area, perimeter and ceiling height, and a project totals the floor area, wall area, volume, doors and windows across every room and storey. Switch between square metres and square feet in Settings.
Yes. The scan captures the ceiling height of each room automatically, and you can adjust it in the plan editor if you need a specific value.
With Room Scanner Pro, export a CSV room and window schedule with the dimensions and areas of every room, ready to open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. The PDF and PNG floor plan exports, which show the dimensions on the drawing, are included on the free tier after a short ad.
Room Scanner is free to download. Scan or enter up to three rooms, view them in 2D, 3D and AR and edit the plan at no cost, with basic exports unlocked by a short ad. Pro removes the scan limit and ads and adds CSV, CAD and report exports.
